On Sunday, August 10, 2014,
Ribs, Pigs & Watermelons started Day 2 of the KCBS (Kansas City Barbeque
Society) sanctioned event. Proceeds from this event will go to American Family
Housing. Since 1985, AFH has evolved from meeting the basic needs of providing
food and clothing to an organization which now supports over 1,000 people each
day (280 are children) and reside in their emergency, transitional, permanent
housing units in Orange, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino Counties.
When the gates opened, most
of the teams were still barbequing away with aroma of smoked meat in the air
and the cool sea breeze coming from beautiful Huntington Beach.
