Park Ave Steaks & Chops takes you back to 1950’s Fine Dining in Stanton, CA

Park Ave’s neon sign stands out in the Plain Jane city of Stanton. The neon buzz is a beacon calling for diners around Orange County. As you pull up to the restaurant, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back into the 1950’s with the restaurant’s logo and outside architecture. Once inside, you feel as if you expect to see Sammy Davis Jr. or Old Blue Eyes sitting at the bar sipping martinis. The interior décor is reminiscent of a 1950’s fine dining restaurant from lighting fixtures to the booths. The service was excellent, attentive, and classy.

The bread basket is wonderful – great crusty bread with swirled butter pats and crispy flatbread. It is served in a great “basket” which looks like a metal fruit bowl you might see on the center of a kitchen table in the 1950s.

H. Salt is still the best place for fish and chips in Orange, CA

Tucked away in a small strip mall near the corner of Tustin Avenue and Walnut Avenue is H. Salt Fish and Chips. With only a couple of locations left in Orange County, it is definitely a hidden gem. This particular shop brings back a flood of childhood memories of when my family first moved to California. It is perfectly situated next to a Baskin Robbins and a laudromat. We would spend a Saturday or Sunday in this strip mall eating lunch at H. Salt and an afternoon snack of ice cream at Baskin Robbins while waiting for our laundry to be done.

10-Piece Fish and Chips are wonderful. The fish fillets are in their trademark triangle shape. The batter is light, similar to a tempura batter, and crispy from the peanut oil. The fish is flaky and tasty. The batter adds a nice flavor to the fish. The chips are nice sized chips, like steak fries. The peanut oil makes it crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Thumbs up with 5 stars!

New Menus for Sandella's in Anaheim...

Sandella’s Flatbread Café is healthy food on the go in Anaheim, CA

Opened in 2009, Sandella’s is located in downtown Anaheim across the street from City Hall. It’s a great location for hundreds of office workers looking for something healthy during their lunch hour. Sandella’s is also open on the weekends with a more relaxed atmosphere, great open space, lots of windows for natural lighting, and even some tables outside if you want to people watch and enjoy the nice summer weather in Southern California. Owner, Sanjeev Kumar, always wants to make sure all of his customers are happy. If you have a special request, don’t hesitate to ask. Sanjeev has been in the restaurant business for over 12 years and does a lot of research on the side to make sure his food is top quality and tailors the menu to customers. Sandella’s has also been given high ratings from the National Restaurant Association and HealthyDining.com for healthy food.

The Tuscan Chicken Panini has grilled chicken, mozzarella cheese, red onions, sundried tomatoes, fresh basil and creamy pesto sauce. This is very cheesy, gooey, and creamy. The concept of the Panini is taken a step further by using flatbread instead of sliced bread. All in all, this is very good but just needs a little kick of spice, like oregano. This is a very healthy alternative to a standard chicken sandwich at a fast food joint. Thumbs up with 4 stars!

Sushi Noguchi is a dream come true in Yorba Linda, CA

Hiro Noguchi has always had a dream to open an upscale Japanese restaurant, not just a sushi bar, but a way to show his talents as a chef – innovative, creative, trendy, and classical. The décor has very clean lines and has a Feng Shui, zen-like atmosphere. Sushi chefs announce your presence and welcome you with smiles. Asian decanters for the shoyu are a nice touch on the table. String lighting hangs from the ceiling cross beams making you feel as if you are dining outside. Omakase is served here as well. You tell the sushi chef what you don’t like and he’ll keep making items until you say to stop. Owners Hiro and Junko are the faces of the restaurant. Hiro serves, cooks, and makes the sushi bar creations. Junko is your hostess and makes sure you are having a wonderful dining experience.

Let’s talk about their Signature Specialties. The Sushi Triolet is three different kinds of Noguchi’s special presentation of sushi. On this occasion, the presentation consisted of salmon sushi topped with mango and jalapeno, red snapper with a lemon pepper, jalapeno, yuzu sauce, and Prosciutto Tuna which is a finely selected fresh tuna wrapped in thin slices of prosciutto with yuzu juice and olive oil. The salmon sushi excites the taste buds with the creaminess of the salmon, sweetness of the mango, and a little bit of heat from the jalapeno. It creates a perfectly balanced flavor. The red snapper’s freshness really stands out on this one. Then the sauce takes it to a whole new level, leaving your mouth with a clean, yet spicy finish. The Prosciutto Tuna is how Hiro shows you his innovative style. Who knew that tuna and prosciutto would be so great together. The tuna is excellent, very lean and sweet. The prosciutto brings a little bit of salty and just enough fat to make your mouth go wild. No shoyu necessary for these delights. Ask your sushi chef what the triolet of the day is. If available, this combination is out-of-this-world! Thumbs up with 5 stars!
