Jersey Mike’s Grand Opening of the 50th store in Los Angeles Area

Jersey Mike’s Subs opened its 50th store in the Los Angeles area in Hollywood yesterday near the famous corner of Sunset and Vine. They are hosting a 5-day fundraiser to benefit Hollywood High School, starting today, Wednesday, April 20th through Sunday, April 24th. Anyone who donates a minimum of $1 to the school will get a free regular sized sub during this fundraising period. The money raised will benefit Hollywood High School’s performing arts program. This is also the 50th organization they have partnered with to do fundraising efforts. In the LA area alone, from high schools to community outreach programs, they have collectively raised over $75,000 for these groups. Support your community and what can be better to be rewarded with an awesome Jersey Mike’s Sub.

Guests were given the red carpet treatment with a champagne reception, a mini-concert from Hollywood High School on the patio, and samples of Jersey Mike’s signature subs. Former TV producer and agent Lloyd Weintraub is the proud owner of the new store and was on-hand for the celebration along with Peter Cancro, Founder and CEO, and Dan Burrell, Area Director. The sandwich crew made quite a show of their sandwich making which made the guests “OOO” and “AHH” not to mention get the taste buds going. They threw around the oil and vinegar bottles like Tom Cruise did in the movie “Cocktail”, must be the Hollywood bug. Some of the artists from Hollywood High School came to perform on the patio to show off their music talents. This is why performing arts should be a mainstay in our high schools to promote creativity and give them avenues to explore for their future.

The Mustard Cafe, Foothill Ranch, CA

Located near the Foothill Ranch Auto Center, The Mustard Café is a great place to unwind for lunch or grab a bite while your car is being serviced. All of their menu items are made “the way food should be”. They use Boar’s Head meats, fresh produce (delivered daily), fresh breads (delivered daily), no preservatives, homemade dressings, and homemade soups. The interior is very inviting from the yellow mustard walls to the cherry wood tables and chairs. The menu boards are strategically placed above so everyone can view and decide. Your order is placed at the counter and your food is brought out to your table.

The Hot Roast Beef Sandwich is perfect. Layered Boar’s Head roast beef is topped with tomatoes, grilled onion, roasted red peppers, lettuce, and melted cheddar cheese inside a fresh French baguette. There are a lot of flavors and textures going on here – sweet, salty, crunchy and chewy. Thumbs up with 5 stars!

The Palm Restaurant, Las Vegas...

If you're heading out to Vegas, check out The Palm Restaurant located in Caesar's Forum Shoppes.

The Palm Restaurant in the Caesar’s Palace Forum Shoppes is a unique location. Located near the entrance of Caesar’s Palace casino, it’s perfectly situated with convenience of the parking garage close by. You’ll be glad you parked close. At the end of the meal, you’ll be so full, you might not want to walk too far. This location also has some “outside” seating so you can people-watch just like you’re eating at a trattoria in Rome. They also have a handsome bar where you can catch some of the games that you may have bets on in the Sportbook. The main dining room is just like a great steakhouse, dark mahogany wood booths, white linen tablecloths, and waiters in white coats ready to cater to your every epicurean desire. A lot of these waiters have been working at high-end restaurants for years and will make sure that your meal is impeccable.

Let’s start with the Salads. The Caesar Salad is chopped hearts of romaine, tossed with garlic croutons and Caesar dressing, and topped with grated Parmesan. The dressing needs a little work, maybe bump up the anchovy and garlic content a bit. If you add a little salt and fresh cracked pepper, it’s just fine. Thumbs up with 4 stars!
