Tucked away in a small strip mall near the corner of Tustin Avenue and Walnut Avenue is H. Salt Fish and Chips. With only a couple of locations left in Orange County, it is definitely a hidden gem. This particular shop brings back a flood of childhood memories of when my family first moved to California. It is perfectly situated next to a Baskin Robbins and a laudromat. We would spend a Saturday or Sunday in this strip mall eating lunch at H. Salt and an afternoon snack of ice cream at Baskin Robbins while waiting for our laundry to be done.
10-Piece Fish and Chips are wonderful. The fish fillets are in their trademark triangle shape. The batter is light, similar to a tempura batter, and crispy from the peanut oil. The fish is flaky and tasty. The batter adds a nice flavor to the fish. The chips are nice sized chips, like steak fries. The peanut oil makes it crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Thumbs up with 5 stars!
