Witness epic battles and feast like a king at Medieval Times in Buena Park, California

Once upon a time, there was a castle in the providence of Buena Park in the kingdom of Orange County. The castle was bestowed upon the land in the year nineteen hundred and eighty-six, and knights from the north, south, east and west would assemble and battle to win the heart of the princess. The King Don Carlos invites his guests of honor to a show of games, rivalry, and marksmanship along with a feast like no other. The guests cheer for their knights as they battle until there is only one!

Your journey from today to the time of yesteryear begins upon the entrance of the castle. Torches are lit to signal a grand event is at hand. Once one of the merry maids confirms you are on the guest list and appoints your knight, you are taken to an instant portrait session with one of the royal family or a handsome knight. Inside the fortress walls lies the grand hall dressed with royal crests, libations, and souvenirs fit for a king or queen.

As you wait for your invitation to the arena, a fun way to enjoy your time is visiting with the horses and/or relaxing in the bar area with an icy-cold beverage. A fun non-alcoholic drink is the virgin Strawberry Daiquiri in a collectible light-up mug ($14) topped with whipped cream and a cherry.

When the arena is open, guests are invited in and shown to the proper cheering sections for their respective knights. The court entertains the guests with pageantry, horse prancing, jousting, and sword fighting. The guests cheer as the knights battle to the death. There can be only one victorious knight!

The Bill of Fare begins with tomato bisque and garlic bread. The soup has an Italian flavor with hints of herbaceous notes like oregano, thyme, and basil within a sweet yet savory tomato base. Use the garlic bread for dipping or save it to eat with your main course.

The main course of roasted chicken, sweet buttered corn, and herb-basted potato are served “sans flatware” so feel free to eat with your hands. The roasted chicken was juicy and succulent. The corn was buttered just right and glistened in the lights. The potato was baked just right and tender although it could use a little bit of salt. You may need a doggie bag as it is a lot of food.

Pastry of the Castle (lemon poundcake) is the sweet ending to your feast. It was just right, light and not too sweet. Beverages of Pepsi and coffee are included with the fare. Adult libations are also available for purchase. HAZZAH!

King Don Carlos invites you to his Medieval Times Buena Park castle. Make reservations at once as you certainly do not want to disappoint his lordship.
