Eureka! now serving weekend brunch in Huntington Beach, CA

On May 30, 2015, Eureka! Huntington Beach launched their new weekend brunch menu. On Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 3pm, guests can enjoy all-American breakfast classics with a modern twist and pair their brunch with $5 Bloody Marys, $5 Mimosas, and/or craft beer from their extensive collection.

Creole Benedict starts with fried green tomatoes topped with Virginia ham, fried eggs, hollandaise sauce, and served with breakfast potatoes and arugula. AJ McCloud, Culinary Director of Eureka!, was inspired by his time in New Orleans and New York. In New Orleans, he fell in love with the food, culture, and the creole-style mustard. The creole mustard has been incorporated into the hollandaise sauce. In New York (he grew up on New York) grilled red tomatoes are served with breakfast at diners and pickled green tomatoes are served at the delis. This spin on the classic eggs benedict is fantastic! With its Southern inspired flavors and California produce, it is awe-inspiring but not super-heavy. The fried green tomatoes are coated with cornmeal and offer the best possible crunch. The tomato inside is slightly sour, but works well with the salty, meaty Virginia ham, and creamy yolk from the egg and hollandaise sauce. The breakfast potatoes and arugula are perfect as sides. Use the potatoes to sop up the extra yolk and hollandaise sauce. Rating: 4.5/5

Huevos Rancheros is corn tortillas topped with bison steak chili, fried eggs, ranchero sauce, black beans, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, avocado, sour cream, and pico de gallo. The bison steak chili is fantastic with its bold meaty flavor! It’s like a Mexican chili omelet in stacked form. The yolk and avocado add creaminess to the dish. This chili would also be great as a chili cheese fries option with an ice cold craft beer. Rating: 4.5/5

Granola is served atop Greek yogurt and topped with mixed berries, banana, and honey. The Greek yogurt is thick and rich. The granola adds a sweet crunchy texture. The fruits and honey add a natural sweetness. It is very simple and very delicious! Rating: 5/5

Bananas Foster Crunchy French Toast is topped with candied pecans, spiced rum syrup, and homemade whipped cream. Chef AJ wanted to put some of his favorite sweet things all on one plate – candied pecans, frosted flakes, and bananas foster. The French toast is coated with frosted flakes to add a sweet crunchy texture to the outside. The bananas foster is perfectly sweet and caramelized making almost firm banana custard feel and taste. The spiced rum syrup is addictive and just sweet enough. The whipped cream is fluffy and adds a cooling flavor. This would work well as a dessert, just switch out the whipped cream for vanilla bean ice cream! Whether ordered as your breakfast or as a “dessert” after breakfast, this is a must try! Rating: 5/5

With summer almost in full swing, brunch is a great way to enjoy SoCal. Head on out to Eureka! for “some tasty waves, a cool buzz” and you’ll be just fine.
