Irvine, CA exclaims Eureka! with new American craft food & drinks

Eureka! Irvine opened in November 2014 and marks the second location in Orange County. This location is perfectly situated across the street from the UCI campus where students can gather between or after classes to unwind with a relaxed atmosphere, great food, and extensive selection of libations. The interior is open with high ceilings, an open dining room, and a California-style patio. The servers are courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive.

A great way to try their extensive selection of beers is through a Beer Sampler. You get a choice of any four beers.

  • Firestone Walker’s Pivo Hoppy Pilsner is similar in flavor to Stella Artois, but with stronger taste. It is medium-bodied and has a sharp hoppy bite yet crisp. Rating: 3/5
  • Dogfish Head’s Indian Brown Ale has a New Castle-like taste. It has a deep, rich, robust, and malty flavor. The bouquet is herbal with coffee tones. Rating: 4/5
  • Ritual Brewing Co.’s Extra Red has a sharp hoppy bite and isn’t very smooth. It is uncharacteristically in-your-face for a red. Rating: 3.5/5
  • Modern Times’ Black House is very light and crisp on the front of the palate. Dark roasted stout flavor envelopes the senses and is smoother than most stouts. There is also a coffee flavor and aroma detected. Rating: 4/5

Seasonal Pacific White Fish Tacos are blackened sautéed seasonal white fish topped with cabbage, avocado aioli, mango salsa, and cilantro. The portions are great to share with a friend. The fish is meaty and perfectly seasoned. The mango salsa is sweet but not too sweet. The slight spiciness from the salsa balances out with the cool, creamy avocado aioli. Rating: 4.5/5

Cowboy Burger is topped with shoestring onion rings, bacon, cheddar, house-made beer barbeque sauce, and served with signature handcut fries. The burger is a good size for an entrée. The patty is tender, juicy, and cooked to your preferred level of doneness (in this case medium). The barbeque sauce could be a little less sweet and smokier. The onion strings add enough sweetness to the burger along with crispy texture. Fries could also be fried a little longer for crispier exterior. Rating: 4.5/5

Bone Marrow Burger is topped with bone marrow porcini butter, charbroiled onion, mustard aioli, oven-roasted tomato, and served with signature handcut fries. The burger is juicy and cooked to perfection (in this case medium rare). The bone marrow butter adds a succulent flavor to the burger, like braised short rib with the essence of bone flavor. The oven-roasted tomato is almost like a sauce and just melts away with every bite. The charbroiled onion is perfectly caramelized and sweet. Rating: 5/5

Chocolate Espresso Soufflé Coffee Cup Cake is a dark chocolate soufflé topped with whipped cream and vanilla bean ice cream. The texture is a cross between a soufflé and a brownie, soft and light in the middle and denser as it gets closer to the ramekin edges. The dark chocolate and espresso are flavor forward. As the ice cream melts and mixes with the cake, the flavor is reminiscent of affogato. Rating: 5/5
