THE TASTE took over Paramount
Pictures Studios Saturday, August 31 for the Field to Fork event. It was hosted by Russ Parsons, Times Food Editor,
and Michael Cimarusti, Chef/Owner of Providence, Chef/Partner of Connie and
Ted’s, and spotlighted seasonal and
sustainable dining.
The Taste was broken up into
two areas – a beautiful courtyard immersed in the area where they would normally
film scenes on the water and the cityscape where it could be streets from
Brooklyn, Boston, or Los Angeles. Let’s take a tour…
Our first stop was Good Girl
Dinette in Los Angeles, CA. They served up a Summer Fruit & Licorice Hand
pie made with Kek Ranch stone fruit. The pie crust was flaky and buttery,
reminding me of my mom’s recipe of Japanese Piecrust Manju. The summer fruit
filling was just right, not too sweet yet tasted quite fresh. I wanted another
one, but knew we had so much more to taste.
