Save the date: 99th Annual Beaumont Cherry Festival 2017 – June 1-4, 2017

Courtesy of the Cherry Festival Association
The Beaumont Cherry Festival started much like a farmers’ market where local farmers would gather together to sell their cherries. Most of the orchards are gone now due to climate, water shortage, cost of insurance, and farmer families moving on to other industries. But this is still the place to be for the all mighty cherry. The event brings approximately 40,000 visitors during the festival. The local high school cheerleaders’ main fundraiser of the year is to sell cherries, cherry pies, tarts, and cherry lemonade. You can also pick up baskets of bing and/or hearty giant cherries and sometimes even a cherry tree to take home. You can also head over to Guldseth Cherry Orchard in Cherry Valley and pick your own cherries.

The festival will have a beer garden, carnival area, arts/craft area, and two streets of commercial vendors. The food vendors will be serving up tasty dishes like fried squid balls, crepes, beignets, cool beads ice cream, wood-fired pizza, dole whips, shaved ice, kettle corn, BBQ chicken & ribs, glazed nuts, roasted corn, and more.

On Saturday, June 3 at 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., a pancake breakfast starts the day’s festivities with homemade cherry syrup. At 10:30 a.m., a parade makes its way down Beaumont Avenue ending on the lawn at City Hall on 6th Street.
